- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [15.39](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1829.15.39)

> In the four permutations of the eye not being an āyatana, the first permutation says: 'If the eye has been obtained and not relinquished, but is a phenomenon subject to immediate cessation': this refers to the final eye of an arhat, which ceases immediately and cannot produce consciousness. Because 'āyatana' has the meaning of a gateway for arising and growth, this cannot bring about arising and growth.
