Second, "things" refers to the functions of various things, such as the cause of suffering arising when origin exists. "Characteristics" refers to the intrinsic characteristics of the truth of cessation. "Categories" refers to the superior, middling, and inferior categories of dharmas, or because the truth of the path of the three vehicles has categorical types. These three subsequent kinds belong to the stage of the path of seeing. "Time" belongs to the path of cultivation, because it arises subsequent to the path of seeing, or it is the contemplation of the three times. "Principles" belongs to the path of the non-learner (aśaikṣa).
