> 'Dhūta-guṇa' is the old dhūta; it has the meaning of having few desires, knowing contentment, and detaching from clinging. 'Being far removed from craving for attendants' refers to disclosing various evils; since they arise due to craving, they are called attendants. 'Being far removed from the causes of much desire and discontent' means that having already obtained robes and the like, whether coarse or fine, one is joyful. 'Being far removed from the causes of much desire, discontent, and obstructing pure training' means that complying minimally with worldly affairs and following along even with the coarse and degraded is called detachment from much desire. 'Receiving dhūta virtues in order to quietly detach from afflictions' is called being free from the causes that obstruct pure training.
