- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.23](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1830.1.23)

> As for dividing the text: the root verses of this treatise consist solely of the main exposition. The Bodhisattva Vasubandhu composed them at the end of his life and passed away before he could compose an extensive prose commentary; therefore, there are no initial or concluding sections. Speaking of the text of its commentaries, they fully possess the three sections: the opening verse of refuge and homage together with the prose that follows constitute the “section of respectful preface before the doctrine.” From “How do worldly conventions and the various sacred teachings…” onwards, which properly explains the root text, is called the “section of extensively establishing \[vijñapti-mātra\] relying on the teachings.”
