The two vehicles would not possess that either. How does that sūtra state that they have no nirvāṇa at all? It says that only the Tathāgata accomplishes all merits and therefore attains nirvāṇa; arhats and others do not accomplish all merits, and therefore it says they do not attain it, and that saying they attain nirvāṇa is the Buddha's skillful means, and so on at length.
