- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.339](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1830.2.339)

> The Commentary states: This sets forth the correct doctrine. That is, when cultivating the absorption, in the preparatory stage (prayogāvasthā) of the absorption, due to revulsion toward defiled or undefiled, coarse and active minds and mental factors—in the non-conceptual \[absorption\] it is six, in the cessation attainment it is seven; non-conceptual is defiled, cessation is undefiled; non-conceptual reviles them as an illness and so forth, while cessation is the thought of stopping and resting; both revile them because they are toil and distress—one generates a superior aspiration, saying: 'I wish to be without mind for one day up to seven days, or for an eon, or for more than an eon, obstructing mind and mental factors.'
