成唯識論述記 2.966

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.966](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1830.2.966)

> The Commentary states: If the noble path lacks seeds, it must be incapable of arising; to say that beings in hell and the like possess seeds but not active manifestations, in reference to what may arise in the future, is also definitely unreasonable, because without a cause the result does not arise, and without an antidote obstacles are not severed. If one claims that tainted minds and so forth serve as the cause, or says that the nature of mind is originally pure and serves as the cause, both claims have been refuted as above. This, then, uses reason to turn the inquiry back on them, and reconciles the intention of the sutras and treatises. Below, it concludes that this general explanation violates reason.
