### [3.311](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1830.3.311)

> The Commentary states: The nimittabhāga of mind and mental factors is like a magically created mind and so forth; therefore, it does not cognize them, as cognizing them would be without functional efficacy. The Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra states: 'All magically created minds have no mind of their own basis; they have the mind of dependent nature.' The Buddhabhūmi-śāstra, fascicle six, and this text, fascicle ten, also state: 'There is no mind that is a real entity of self-cognition and deliberation; there is only a mind resembling deliberation that is a nimittabhāga transformed in accordance with the darśanabhāga, like fire in a mirror,' and so forth at length. Question: If so, why are the dharmas of mind and mental factors produced from the eighth? Since they cannot be transformed, they need not be produced.
