> Nanda, Jayasena, and others establish that the seed generates the manifest at different times, before and after. They cite the Abhidharmasamuccaya and other works, saying: 'There is the eye \[faculty\] that is not the eye-element (cakṣurdhātu),' and so on. Furthermore, the Yogācārabhūmi says: 'An impermanent dharma serves as a cause for an other-nature, and also serves as a cause for its own nature in a subsequent moment; not in this very moment.' Because 'not in this very moment' extends through the preceding cause for an other-nature, cause and effect are not simultaneous.
