> Answer: If noble ones have already abandoned desire for the sphere of nothingness, they enter the concentration either relying on the marks of the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (naivasaṃjñānāsaṃjñāyatana) or relying on the marks of cessation. Entering the concentration relying on the marks of the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception means generating deep revulsion and relinquishment toward what is above this. Because the cognitive objects toward which one progresses in the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception are all extinguished, the mind then becomes tranquil and ceased. Entering the concentration relying on the marks of cessation is also like this.
