- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.93](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1834.2.93)

> Commentary: Because the east faced by a paramāṇu is not east and so forth, when the sun shines on the east, it is precisely shining on the west and other places. Since a paramāṇu has no side that the light does not reach, when it shines on the east, there should be no shadow in the west. A formal inference should be formulated: "When the sun shines on a pillar or the like, there should be no shadow; because it lacks various spatial divisions such as east and west; like empty space and the like." The Cheng weishi lun states: "If they have no spatial divisions, they would be like non-matter. How could an aggregate receive light and cast a shadow? Since the place receiving light and the place casting a shadow are different, the posited paramāṇus must have spatial divisions." This refutes it by pratyakṣa.
