> Sixth, contrasting the other five categories with the four aniyata to clarify establishment and exclusion in terms of the presence or absence of characteristics: Those that possess one and lack three are named the four aniyata; the other dharmas are not so, and thus are not subsumed under the aniyata. Although the five sarvatraga dharmas are common to the three natures, merely because they pervade the nine planes, are continuous, and arise together—these three characteristics being different—they do not enter into the aniyata. Although the five viniyata dharmas are common to the three natures, and are neither continuous nor arise together, merely because they pervade the nine planes—one characteristic being different—they do not enter into the aniyata. Although the eleven kuśala dharmas are neither continuous nor arise together, merely because they are not common to the three natures and pervade the nine planes—these two characteristics being different—they are not subsumed under the aniyata. Although the six kleśa dharmas do not pervade the nine planes, and are neither continuous nor arise together, merely because they are not common to the three natures—one characteristic being different—they are not subsumed under the aniyata. Although the twenty upakleśa dharmas do not pervade the nine planes, and are neither continuous nor arise together, merely because they are not common to the three natures—one characteristic being different—they are not subsumed under the aniyata. The above concludes the brief analysis of the caitta-dharmas by means of the five headings.
