因明入正理論疏 1.21

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.21](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1840.1.21)

> Sixth question: "Reason and example are proofs (sādhana), so they can be called hetuvidyā. The thesis is not a proof, so it should not be hetuvidyā." Answer: "Because it is undetermined, what is to be established is not \[a proof\]. Taking its name from what is determined, there is no fault. Furthermore, what can cause and what can illuminate is properly hetuvidyā; what is caused and what is illuminated is also collaterally hetuvidyā. Furthermore, what is now to be established is solely the thesis, and although the proof is solely the reason and example, in order not to contradict the ancient \[usage\], the thesis is also hetuvidyā."
