> Within the aspiration through realization, regarding "third, because the subtle arising and ceasing of the mind of karmic consciousness": this intends to clarify that when the two cognitions of the bodhisattva arise, they are not exclusively free from affliction, unlike the Buddha stage; therefore there is still subtle movement of thought, meaning the fundamental karma, the non-conjoined defilement, which operates constantly without cessation, coexisting with the two cognitions. It is said that cittotpāda has three characteristics; this does not mean that the karmic consciousness itself is the virtue of practice of cittotpāda, because arising and ceasing are its characteristics.
