It intends to show that the mind-essence that is characterized, having previously awakened to the characteristic of change, was still asleep in the dream of the characteristic of abiding; now conforming with the true wisdom of consciousness-only, they attain awakening from the dream of the characteristic of abiding; hence it says "awakening to the abiding of thoughts."
