- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.120](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1846.1.120)

> In the general, there are three clauses. First, "the mind of sentient beings" brings forth the substance of the dharma: the tathāgatagarbha mind contains the two gates of combination and non-combination, because it is in the status of sentient beings; if it were in the Buddha-stage, then there would be no meaning of combination, because incipient enlightenment is identical with the innate and it is solely tathatā, which corresponds to the meaning manifested. Now, precisely in terms of the status of sentient beings who follow defilement, it can be endowed with these two gates.
