> Question: Since one who awakens to the mark of difference and so forth also does not awaken to what follows, why is the name 'non-enlightenment' not established for them as well? Answer: If based on awakening to what precedes while not awakening to what follows, they could also be called 'non-enlightenment'; hence the text below says that even up to the tenth ground, all are non-enlightenment. But if it is in terms of awakening to karma while not awakening to afflictions, it is properly named 'non-enlightenment', which is this text. This is because awakening and affliction properly correspond to each other, not \[awakening and\] karma.
