- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.257](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1846.2.257)

> In the first part, the word "ālayavijñāna" refers to the mind spoken of above, which is the cause of arising and ceasing. The phrase "avidyā exists" refers to the meaning of non-enlightenment between the two meanings of the ālayavijñāna, which is the condition for arising and ceasing. Wishing to explain that the manas and mano-vijñāna evolve in reliance on these causes and conditions, it says "Because it relies on...", and so forth. In the general summary above, it briefly indicated its cause, so it only said "relying on the mind"; here, in the detailed explanation, fully revealing the causes and conditions, it says that in reliance on the mind, avidyā exists.
