> However, regarding the previous eight pairs, the first two sections each rely on distinct meanings, speaking of the arising of thought and the arising of views, yet these also do not go beyond the meaning of the mind's stirring. If one wished to adduce distinct meanings for each, "true cognitive knowing" and so forth also have distinct meanings, and one should say: "When the mind gives rise to conceptual differentiation, it is not true cognitive knowing; when the mind is free from conceptual differentiation, it is precisely the meaning of true cognitive knowing. Down to: if the mind initiates karma, it is not free; if the mind is free from karmic bondage, it attains freedom, and so forth." One should know that the meaning of the mind's stirring is general, and the rest are all specific.
