> \[Treatise:\] "If one is free from..." \[Commentary:\] Second, revealing the true. \[Commentary:\] "The doubter..." inquires into the reason for this. This is understandable. "The explanation says..." directly reveals the meaning of the text. "Again, if..." explains and completes it by counter-implication. Both can be understood. Who has the diseased eyes? One must know that the one who sees flowers in the sky has diseased eyes; if the eyes are clear and pure, one definitely does not see flowers. The Śūraṅgama-sūtra says: "If one without clouded eyes could see flowers, why would the clear sky be called clear and bright eyes?" One should know that those who see dharmas are called ordinary beings, while those who do not see dharmas are called noble ones. Since noble ones, according with reality, do not see dharmas, one should know that dharmas are falsely seen by ordinary beings, and truly have no arising and ceasing. Since dharmas have no arising and ceasing, how could the true nature ever be moved? Therefore it was said earlier that it neither arises nor ceases.
