> This takes the mind of great compassion that was generated as the practice of skillful means. As for "nirvāṇa without remainder," the Hinayāna refers to the ash-like body and annihilated intellect, whereas here it refers to the two kinds of death being forever extinguished. Knowing that the intrinsic nature of all dharmas is non-dual, one does not give rise to notions of superior, middling, or inferior regarding sentient beings. Knowing that all dharmas are mutually equal, one does not give rise to notions of enmity or closeness regarding sentient beings. Knowing that all dharmas are ultimately quiescent, one does not give rise to notions of using the small to convert them regarding sentient beings. All of these likewise accord with the nature of tathatā. These four skillful means are all initiating cultivation in accord with the nature, and completely utilizing cultivation to reveal the nature. Prior to generating the mind, through these skillful means one is able to generate the mind; after having generated the mind, through these skillful means one ascends to the ultimate fruition. Therefore they are called the correct causes for all Tathāgatas to attain the Way. The second \[part\], explaining the practices of generating the mind, is concluded.
