> For one who excels at cultivating calm abiding, calm abiding itself is special insight; neither sinking into lethargy nor agitated by distraction, one directly enters the fundamental samādhi of tathatā, attains the ten benefits, and even enters the stage of the definitely determined, never to regress again. What need is there to further clarify the method of cultivating special insight? Now, for those who do not grasp the import, whose minds will inevitably sink into lethargy, or through indolence not delight in various good \[deeds\] and fall among ordinary beings and outsiders, or leave great compassion far behind and fall into the two vehicles, \[the treatise\] again indicates that one should concurrently cultivate special insight.
