> Question: Permanent dharmas undergo no change; how can one speak of continuity? Explanation: Because permanent dharmas undergo no change, one does not speak of continuity in terms of the arising and ending of a single dharma, but only speaks of what arises subsequently adjoining the preceding virtue, which is therefore called continuity. For instance, when the permanent virtue in the second ground arises, it adjoins the first ground; all are like this. Furthermore, in terms of a single dharma transforming according to conditions, one can speak of continuity. For example, as the Bodhisattvabhūmi states, 'the continuity of the six sense-bases'—this is precisely that case.
