> The five kinds of wholesome dharmas are faith, precepts, giving, extensive learning, and wisdom. First, attaining a pure mind toward the Three Jewels is named faith. Relying on faith, one initiates practice; practice begins with leaving faults behind, hence next precepts are explained. Having abandoned evil, one next cultivates good practices; the good has merit and wisdom, and merit practice is easy to do, hence next giving is explained. Having cultivated merit, it is next appropriate to generate wisdom; wisdom comes from hearing the Dharma, hence next extensive learning is explained. Relying on hearing, one generates wisdom, so fifth and finally wisdom is explained. Such are the five wholesomes.
