- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [8.54](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1851.8.54)

> Next, distinguishing the eight difficulties according to the five destinies. Hell, ghosts, and animals are in the lower three destinies; blindness and deafness, worldly knowledge, before or after a Buddha, and Uttarakuru are a minor portion of the human destiny. Confining it to humans: blindness and deafness, worldly knowledge, and before or after a Buddha—excluding Uttarakuru—are in the other three continents. Uttarakuru is solely in the continent of Uttarakuru. The single difficulty of long life is a minor portion of the heavenly destiny, because the heavens of the desire realm are not difficulties. (This concludes the third gate.)
