肇論新疏 2.52

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.52](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1860.2.52)

> "Empty" means quiescent. It is precisely because it is not existent that quiescence is established, and because it is not non-existent that illumination persists; while quiescent it constantly illuminates, and while illuminating it is constantly quiescent, step by step tracing the path to explain and complete the previous meaning. "Mingles without altering" means that precisely when practicing upāya, it always abides in prajñā; hence entering the realm of sentient beings it is neither defiled nor bound. "Moves to \[engage\]..." and so forth means that precisely when in prajñā, it is constantly practicing upāya; hence its benefit and meaning circulate, guiding and receiving the coarse \[capacities\] of ordinary beings.
