- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.33](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1862.1.33)

> As in the \*Akṣayamatinirdeśa-sūtra\*, there are thirty-two similes. The bodhisattva has four delights: first, the delight of contemplating benefit, which refers to the time when one contemplates benefiting others; second, the delight of obtaining skillful expedients, which refers to the time when one attains skillful expedients; third, the delight of understanding the meaning, which refers to the time when one thoroughly understands the meaning of the Mahāyāna; fourth, the delight of realizing reality, which refers to the time when one realizes and enters into the selflessness of dharmas. If a person abandons sentient beings and heads toward quiescence, one should know that this person does not obtain these four delights of a bodhisattva (this explains the fault of a bodhisattva who does not arouse bodhicitta).
