- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.42](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1865.1.42)

> This sixth consciousness is transformed into the taintless state at the initial mind of the first bhūmi, because the two discriminated obscurations are absent. Question: 'What is severed among the three times? If present afflictions are severed, wisdom is not concurrent \[with them\]; the past has already ceased, and the future has not arisen. What is it that is severed?' Answer: 'It is merely that through the arising of wisdom, afflictions are eliminated so that the substance of future afflictions does not continue to arise; this is called severing.'
