> In the former \[section\], regarding recognizing delusive thoughts: having contemplated these phenomena of transmigration, when one minutely examines the reality of it, it is only a single thought, reaching up to non-thought. That thought which is the apprehending subject is also like that which is apprehended; none fails to reach the other, because both right where they are mutually identify as empty, and their nature is originally manifest. Having recognized that phenomena are truly like this, whereas what one formerly perceived—self and other, person and phenomenon, right and wrong, and distinction—were entirely the reckoning of distracted consciousness and delusive conceptualization, and truly do not exist, one should lament one's own inversion and extinguish all delusive thoughts. Furthermore, one contemplates that these very delusive thoughts follow their own delusive objects; right now these two are constantly non-existent. As a sūtra says: "Arising from characteristics of the mind, making characteristics with the mind; existing through combination, co-arising and co-ceasing, both equally without abiding." This is what it means.
