四、為生緣念故，為令眾生念佛求一切智，故立佛寶；為令念法求證真如，故立法寶；為令念僧求入聖眾數，故立僧寶。故《雜心論》云「為開眾生佛法僧念，故說三寶也。」

> Fourth, in order to give rise to mindful recollection: to cause sentient beings to be mindful of the Buddha and seek omniscience, the Buddha Jewel is established; to cause them to be mindful of the Dharma and seek the realization of tathatā, the Dharma Jewel is established; to cause them to be mindful of the Saṅgha and seek entry into the ranks of the noble assembly, the Saṅgha Jewel is established. Thus the Saṃyuktābhidharmahṛdaya says: "In order to open sentient beings to the mindfulness of the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha, the Three Jewels are taught."
