> Fourth, "revealing teaching and meaning": the dust mote's ability to express and produce faith and understanding, causing penetration, is the teaching; at the very time of understanding, what can be explained by phrasing and expression is the meaning. This dust mote being fully endowed with the principle and wisdom of the dharmadhātu is the inexhaustible teaching and meaning. Teaching has no real essence, being set up according to capacity; meaning has no real tendency, expanding and contracting according to wisdom. Realizing that delusion has no essence, teaching is also not teaching. As a sūtra says: "I speak of the twelve divisions of scriptures like an empty fist deceiving small children. Not knowing this matter is called ignorance."
