> Tenth, generating understanding by relying on phenomena: Seeing the characteristics of a dust mote is 'phenomena.' Penetrating thoroughly at the locus of phenomena, the principle of anutpāda presents itself before one; this is called 'generating understanding by relying on phenomena.' Furthermore, one separately relies on external things to express this Dharma: to express the unimpededness of the phenomena of the dust mote, one uses the dust mote to express it; to reveal that the Dharma enriches and benefits, one uses clouds and rain to express it; to reveal that the nature-virtues of the dust mote are profound and vast, one uses the ocean to express it. Boundless instances such as these have distinct things that they express; one deduces them through wisdom.
