> In the past, Dharma Master Zhiyuan of Gushan once stated, "Venerable Dushun extracted the profound purport of the Avataṃsaka and composed this text, presumably based on the Northern Stūpa inscription's preface by Gao Ying, Secretariat Drafter under the Tang." Jingyuan previously read the Record of the Miaojue Stūpa composed by Pei Xiu, Prime Minister under the Tang, which moreover stated, "The commentator on the Avataṃsaka revered Xianshou's Returning to the Source, savoring it untiringly, like a black dragon playing with its pearl." Thus did I realize that this contemplation was indeed authored by National Preceptor Xianshou, beyond doubt. Furthermore, the contemplation fully cites three passages of text, all of which are the words of the National Preceptor, evident and clear.
