> The Great Sage's skillful teachings are boundless; adapting to capacities and according with illnesses, they are not one. Those who are confused cling to traces of words and fail to know them, losing the fundamental essence; though working diligently, the day of returning to the source recedes into the distance. Therefore, relying on principle and based on the teaching, I have briefly fashioned this diagrammatic poem, hoping that those who cling to names will return to the nameless true source. The method for reading the poem: one should begin from the central \[character\] dharma (法), wind and bend through its turns, and finally end at buddha (佛). Read along the path of the seal-diagram (fifty-four corners, two hundred and ten characters).
