> Sixth, explaining the reception of the three self-refuges together with the ten wholesome precepts. All monastics and laypeople endowed with consciousness must take refuge in the Three Jewels and request their protection; the merit obtained is boundless. Regarding the precepts for the seven assemblies, although they have previously received the refuges, there is no harm in receiving them again, thereby repeatedly evoking unmanifest form. Since this applies to good and evil, the precepts also conform to it. If one has not yet received the precepts, one can only receive the three refuges that overturn error. Daily during the six periods, one may receive them whenever appropriate, openly taking refuge in the Three Jewels and vowing of oneself never to turn back.
