> Next, one compound north of the small lane is named the Compound of Bodhisattvas from Other Directions. Its gate is carved to open toward the south; its inner halls, chambers, forests, and trees are as before. In its midst is a gaṇḍī, made by the great general Saṃjñin, which fashions a bronze dragon supporting a stone lotus flower; at sunrise the flower opens, and at sunset the flower closes. When the time comes for the flower to close, all its petals stir as if blown by the wind. The dragon then emits a sound, and when the karmadāna hears the sound, he immediately strikes the gaṇḍī.
