> Seventh, practice and maintenance. The Wubai wen says: "If for an entire day one does not use the bowl to eat at all, one commits a prāyaścittika (in our school it should be a duṣkṛta), but it is permitted for those severely ill. If one goes outside the boundary and stays overnight, one does not lose the assignment (one only incurs a duṣkṛta offence)." The Samantapāsādikā: "If it is pierced to the size of a millet grain, one loses the assignment. If it has been repaired and plugged with iron filings, one must receive it again." If it is broken aslant, it does not constitute a valid assignment.
