摩訶止觀 10.17

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [10.17](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1911.10.17)

> Furthermore, investigating all phenomena based on the contemplation factor, one claims that an effect does not exist within the cause. This view is distinct and the understanding mind is fierce and sharp: though various objections are raised, one can resolve them in various ways and cite various proofs, establishing the doctrine that an effect does not exist within the cause. Using this to refute others, others cannot withstand it and the rest are deemed liars; when others come to refute oneself, one's own adherence becomes all the firmer, regarding this as the truth. Establishing assertions and their ultimate purport, one turns solely toward the non-existence of an effect in the cause. One should know that this is definitely the arising of the Sāṃkhya view.
