- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [5.167](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1911.5.167)

> The ground of the mind is difficult to settle; it goes against suffering and accords with pleasure. Now, in accordance with their wishes, one settles it accordingly. For example, in nourishing life, one drinks or eats to suit the body and establish life. Nourishing the dharmakāya is also like this: using calming as drink, and contemplation as food. Methods of medicine are also twofold, either pills or powders, to eliminate cold and heat. To treat the disease of avidyā, calming is the pill and contemplation is the powder. Like the laws of yin and yang: yang is wind and sun, yin is clouds and rain; with too much rain there is rotting, with too much sun there is scorching. Yin is like concentration, yang is like wisdom; those who are biased toward wisdom or concentration fail to see the Buddha-nature. The eightfold harmonization values catching the underlying intent.
