> "Why is arising arising ineffable? Arising arising, therefore it arises; arising arising, therefore it does not arise; therefore it is ineffable." It is now explained: "arising arising, therefore it arises" refers to great arising producing small arising, defiled phenomena shifted by the eight characteristics. Relying on this intention of the Buddha, we know this refers to defiled afflictions within the realms. "Arising arising, therefore it does not arise": dharmas produced by causes and conditions are identical to emptiness and identical to the middle; the locus of mental activity is extinguished, and the path of speech is cut off; therefore it is ineffable.
