> If one cannot attain entry, one still presumes that mind exists in dependence on no-mind, and the delusion of relativity arises, which differs from the above. Conditioned arising takes the union of the two dharmas of sense faculty and sense object as conditioned arising. Continuity takes the mind faculty vertically across prior and subsequent as continuity. Looking vertically across arising and cessation, this is particular cessation, and particular cessation is narrow. Now, the provisionality of relativity is relative to general cessation, and this meaning is broad. As for general cessation, it is like the three unconditioned states, which, although not all together cessation, can be unarisen. Speaking of the arising of mind in dependence on the non-arising of space is precisely the provisionality of relativity. Since one did not awaken above, this delusion arises together with the delusion above, and is therefore said to 'combine with the cause'; while the delusion above still remains, this delusion arises again, and is therefore said to 'exceed it.' Furthermore, 'combining with the cause' means that the unarisen mental object arising in dependence on the mind faculty is also conditioned arising; because the provisional mind from above continues into relativity, this is continuity, hence it is said to 'combine with the cause.' As for 'exceeding it,' the previous two provisionalities did not give rise to delusion with respect to general cessation, but now it arises regarding the general; how is this not exceeding it? Although this explanation differs from the old interpretations, it merely borrows their terminology to demonstrate the characteristics of the provisionality of relativity.
