- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [5.40](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1911.5.40)

> When the wholesome arises easily, barriers and obstructions are light; when the wholesome is difficult to arise, it is because obstructions are heavy. When the unwholesome is difficult to arise, it is because faculties are sharp; when the unwholesome arises easily, it is because faculties are dull. If the unwholesome is about to perish and takes its leave, or if the wholesome is about to arise and is recognized, it occurs once and does not recur. If the wholesome is about to perish and seeks rescue, or if the unwholesome is about to flourish and seeks acceptance, it recurs again and again. In all these matters, oral instruction is required, and one must deliberate with wisdom; one must not rely on one's own mind and mistakenly judge right and wrong. Be cautious with it! Be diligent with it! Value it highly!
