> The aggregates come first for two reasons: first, they are present before us; second, they follow the sūtras. The Mahāprajñāpāramitā-sūtra says: "Śrāvakas practice the path relying on the four stations of mindfulness (smṛtyupasthāna); bodhisattvas begin by contemplating form up to the knowledge of all aspects (sarvākārajñatā)." Every chapter is like this, so it does not contradict the sūtras. Furthermore, when a practitioner takes on a body, who does not have the heavy burden of the aggregates and sense fields present before them? Therefore, they are contemplated first. The subsequent arising of different signs is distinguished sequentially.
