### [6.178](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1911.6.178)

> First, contemplating avidyā: the wisdom of emptiness and the provisional corresponds with the mind. Does one contemplate these two wisdoms as being produced from dharmatā? Are they produced from avidyā? Are they produced from the combination of dharmatā and avidyā? Or are they produced apart from them? If from dharmatā, dharmatā is unproduced. If from avidyā, avidyā is unreal, and also has no connection to the middle way. If produced from their combination, there are two faults. If produced apart from them, there are no causes and conditions. The Mūlamadhyamakakārikā says: 'Dharmas are not self-produced,' and so forth. Such extensive refutations are as explained above under the provisionality of conditioned arising.
