摩訶止觀 6.56

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [6.56](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1911.6.56)

> If, as Kātyāyana set forth concerning the gate he entered, he composed the \*Peṭakopadeśa\* and transmitted it to South India: provisional non-existence is the same as before, while real dharmas are both existent and non-existent. If one gives rise to fixed characteristics, delusions of view and thought arise arbitrarily. Contemplating these real dharmas as harmoniously both existent and non-existent also breaks simple and compound views and the eighty-one \[grades of\] thought, bringing about the non-arising of delusion, wisdom, cause, effect, and so forth; this is called the purpose of breaking down dharmas through the gate of both emptiness and existence in the Tripiṭaka teaching. Therefore the \*Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa\* says: "If one obtains the expedient means of prajñā and enters the \*Peṭaka\* gate, one does not fall into existence or non-existence."
