> The factors of the path, the six perfections, and the ten powers of a Buddha mutually subsume one another, all as explained above. Practising the factors of the path and the six perfections is precisely practising the ten powers of a Buddha; taming the sense faculties and fulfilling the six perfections is precisely fulfilling the ten powers, which does not differ from abiding in the Buddha's deportment. The Daśabhūmika-vibhāṣā states: "'Power' means supportive aid; its vigor cannot be exhausted." The Bodhisattvabhūmi states: "Attaining supremacy and competence is called 'power'." Being in accord with reality regarding the ten points, being free from falsehood, surpassing Māra, and practicing on one's own: this is termed "attaining supremacy"; being able through skilful means to benefit sentient beings is termed "competence". However, a Buddha's powers are immeasurable, so why speak only of ten? In truth, a single wisdom takes ten matters as its objects, and hence it is called "ten". These ten are sufficient for transforming sentient beings. By citing ten, the rest may also be known. The Aṅgulimālīya-sūtra says: "The ten powers are the tradition of the śrāvakas, not the Mahāyāna; the Mahāyāna has immeasurable powers." These two explanations further clarify the meaning of the four kinds of ten powers.
