> If it is the essence, karma, and fruit of the marks according to the shared teaching, it is not like the above. If one seeks the Buddha through marks, the wheel-turning sage king would be the Tathāgata, and this person would be walking a false path. The thirty-two marks spoken of by the Buddha are not the thirty-two marks; each one is swept clean with a mind of emptiness, and only when corresponding with emptiness is it called a mark. The Vibhāṣā also states: "The bodhisattva's single-minded cultivation of the karma of the thirty-two marks all takes wisdom as its foundation." This is the wisdom of emptiness. If so, the thirty-two marks are all subsumed by the ten wisdoms of the factors of the path and the perfection of wisdom; this is the meaning of the shared teaching.
