- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [7.180](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1911.7.180)

> If one is ensnared by the net of fame and reputation, bound by the hair-rope of material gain, or nested by retinues gathering like trees, such that pests eat away at one within and the branches and leaves are stripped without, one should quickly cast them aside, neither accepting nor clinging to them. If in casting them aside they do not leave but conversely become adhesively attached, one should diminish one's virtue and expose one's flaws, feigning madness and concealing the truth, secretly covering the gold and cowries so thieves do not see them. If fleeing into hiding still does not free oneself, one should take flight ten thousand leagues to distant lands and other regions, where no one knows one, and happily cultivate the Way, just as Guṇavarman did (and so forth).
