If the Tathāgata does not expound it, one cannot know it; upon hearing the teaching, rejoicing and reverently receiving it is the 'vehicle of names and words.' Due to hearing the name, cultivating according to the teaching and entering the ranks of the five ranks is called the 'vehicle of contemplation and practice.' Attaining the purity of the six sense faculties is called the 'vehicle of resemblance.' Exiting the three realms, one arrives at and dwells in sarvajñā, yet this dwelling is also non-dwelling; if one enters the first dwell-abode up to the tenth dwell-abode, one attains the real vehicle and roams in the east. In the ten practices one roams in the south; in the ten dedications one roams in the west; in the ten grounds one roams in the north. Revolving in an endless cycle, upon attaining emptiness one comes to rest, halting at the center, which is wondrous enlightenment.
