- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [7.21](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1911.7.21)

> Answer: From one perspective, yes; from a second perspective, no. As for "yes": avidyā is precisely view and thought \[delusions\]—why would it not be a horizontal hindrance? Middle wisdom cures everything—why would it not open horizontal obstruction? This is the meaning of "yes" from the first perspective. If explaining from the second perspective: horizontal obstruction hinders what is proximate and cannot obstruct vertical opening; horizontal opening has weak power and cannot open vertical obstruction; vertical obstruction is profound and distant and does not form a horizontal hindrance; vertical opening corresponds to its specific counterpart and does not open horizontal obstruction.
